Nicholas K: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2012
A couple of years ago, the Nicholas K show was actually the very first fashion week show I watched. So from watching it this season compared to the last time I saw it (and nothing against the designers one bit!) but I feel like this spring/summer collection nailed it. Everything was so fresh, yet it still maintained that edgy, Nicholas K vibe we’re used to in seasons past. Utilitarian jackets with hoods, tie-dye scarves and Ray-Bans set the tone for a collection full of totally wearable pieces we would love to let live in our closets. Muted tones of off-white, beige and sand mixed with brighter hues of “kelp,” “seaweed,” “algae” and turquoise. If anything, Nicholas K teaches us a lesson or two in layering. The use of sweater under hoody over tank and so forth is pretty impressive. And it makes me want every piece, so I can do the same.
P.S. A couple of must-have items? A lightweight cape (continuing the fall trend); a chic scarf (tie-dye, perhaps); a crochet sweater.
