Jenny Packham: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2012
By Sarah Kleinhenz, Fashion Week Correspondent
Although Jenny Packham was bright and early Monday morning, I was wide awake by the time the models strutted down the runway. It was nothing short of fabulous. I’ve been a HUGE admirer of her designs for years, and was literally jumping out of my wedges when I found out I would be able to see her spring collection. She didn’t disappoint, girlies!
It was like yummy sorbet flowing down the runway. Her inspiration for this collection was gleaming skies of opal whites and azure blues mixed with glittering colors from the rainbow. Red, orange, yellow and lime hues mixed with gold, and dazzling Swarovski crystals made each dress take my breath away. It’s easy to see why celebrities are drawn to her shows and her designs for red carpet events. You just can’t look bad when wearing Jenny Packham.
Using chiffon, tulle, organza and lace, JP created gowns that looked both ethereal and sophisticated. I just couldn’t take me eyes off the runway. It was like a dream watching these exquisitely-made pieces glide on the runway in front of me. I literally almost forgot the reason I was there – to share with you all! (snap of out it, Sarah!) Spring will definitely be the time to watch the red carpet. I can’t wait to see who chooses these fabulous gowns to show off JP’s out-of-this-world creativity and impeccable design ability. She’s truly a one-of-a-kind designer, and I’m a bigger fan now – more than ever (if that’s even possible?).
