Elie Tahari: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2012
By Tiffany Piñero, Fashion Week Correspondent
White-hot, with touches of gold, crisp shades of sandstone and filigree sandals that were gilded above the knee – all of this from one of the luxury retail market’s biggest names, Elie Tahari.
The collection, said to have been influenced with Egyptian elements, displayed interesting new suiting proportions, elongated jackets and sleek harem pants, adding a new kind of sultry to the mix. Also adding some heat was the footwear! Va-va-va-voom. Snakeskin wedges and metallic heels ruled the runway and added a pulse to some of the quieter looks. Washed silk, dusted knits and chain-mail mesh and sequins counterbalanced each other to create interest in some of the more vocal looks that were not only fashion forward, but style savvy, which is sure to increase spring sales.
