Fashion Guru Kelly Helfman Sets the Trends
Kelly Helfman is a true lover of all things fashion. She got her start in the industry working at her mother’s vintage clothing store, Q-Cumbers in Los Angeles and later went on to start her own successful vintage-inspired clothing brand, KWEEN, a favorite among many celebrities, before making the move to manage sales for the Juniors and Young Contemporary market at MAGIC. She has since climbed the fashion ladder very quickly. Kelly was recently named MAGIC’s President of West Coast Women’s and she now oversees a multitude of fashion events including WWDMAGIC, PROJECT WOMENS, STITCH and POOL.
There is a good deal of excitement for women’s fashion in Vegas, this August 12-14. With the advent of all the MAGIC Marketplace shows coming together under one roof at the Las Vegas Convention Center to create ONE MAGIC, Kelly has been plotting and planning to make this year’s show one of her best yet.
In addition to securing En Vogue to perform at WWDMAGIC’s opening night party, three DJ’s will spin throughout the 3-day event – DJ Madd, DJ Quiana Parks and DJ Millie. Kelly created a fun partnership with leading online platform and conference for millennial women in business, Create & Cultivate to host a series of educational talks. Additional topics will be discussed over at Social House by Rachel McCord, The McCord List (TML).
In the midst of all this planning, we caught up with Kelly to get her take on what’s trending in RTW, Accessories and more.
“This season is all about versatility. From the revival of ‘80s glam and ‘90s denim to a fresh take on croc accessories and strappy sandals, these summer trends are instantly chic updates to your everyday wardrobe,” according to Helfman.

Tie Dye
One of the year’s biggest fashion trends both on and off the runway is the famously hippy print – tie dye! Found on everything from basic sweatshirts to feminine dresses, the colorful look is more elevated than ever before!

Bring back the sequins, animal prints and electric neons – 80’s glam has had an official revival! Bold looks such as strong shoulders, high slits and ruffles galore complete this glam, rocker look.

Simple yet chic. Neutral canvas styles will be found on dresses, trousers and even some outerwear. The look is both casual and effortless, making this a favorite for minimalists everywhere!
Loose Denim
So long skinny jeans! The denim look of the moment is all about 90’s inspired, loose-fit jeans. Style this look with a bright knit or sleek accessories for a more polished look.
