The Top 5 Shoe Trends from Shoe Guru, Leslie Gallin
I would love love to see all the shoe trends inside of this gal’s shoe closet! Leslie Gallin has been at the forefront of the footwear industry for years. Her career has taken her from Geoffrey Beene to Escada to Louis Feraud and more. And now, as the President of Footwear for UBM Fashion and the woman who built FN PLATFORM into fashion’s most important footwear event in North America, she knows a thing or two about shoes and what’s hot and what’s not!
We caught up with Leslie this week to discuss what everyone should be wearing, NOW. She is very excited about what’s happening! “The future of footwear is more exciting than ever! Customers are opting for bigger, bolder styles and as a result, brands are taking greater risks in their styles. We are so lucky! This season’s FN PLATFORM will feature amazing designers as well as a slew of emerging brands to keep an eye on.” Not to mention the fact that fashion designer and TV personality Sonja Morgan from the Real Housewives of New York will be at the Las Vegas show with French Sole.
What you need to know, according to Leslie:
- COWBOY BOOTS
The wild, wild west is making a comeback! The humble boot made its debut on the catwalks and will soon be spotted just about everywhere with glitter accents and an ultra-feminine silhouette. Styled with femme mini dresses or shorts, this resurgence is one you can’t ignore.
2. EMBELLISHED SNEAKERS
The comfort style is here to stay! Sneakers have been a closet staple for several seasons now, however, fashion enthusiasts are moving away from the signature white look and opting for amped up appeal through embellishments. Expect to see various textures and colors laced with everything from gemstones and glitter to tufted feathers and studs. The upgraded trainer is the easiest accessory to elevate a simple day-to-day look.
3. PATENT LEATHER
Looking to turn heads? Shoes with patent leather finishes will do just that! The standout look offers a modern and fresh feel to traditional silhouettes. Perfect for the minimalist or those looking to shine, patent styles offer a sleek and effortless pop to any outfit.
4. GLITTER
Don’t throw away that bedazzler just yet! Fit for a princess, the most glam of looks is making its way into styles of many forms. Spotted on boots, pumps and even flats, glitter shoes will be everywhere in the coming seasons. Go classic with a simple black dress and sparkling pumps or create the perfect juxtaposition between rigid cargo pants and glitzy, chunky boots.
5. MID-RISE HEEL
Say ‘goodbye’ to sky high pumps! Elegant and refined, the most feminine of shoe trends has made its way back – the mid-rise heel. Comfortable yet womanly, mid-rise heels offer the ability to easily transition from day to night!
