Laura Marano On Her New Fragrance and Shopping

How crazy-excited was I when Laura Marano agreed to talk to me about her new fragrance? We’re talking crazy. It wasn’t too long ago we chatted about her new show on Radio Disney. She’s a total star, y’all, and couldn’t be any nicer. She’s also super into fashion and beauty, and that’s why I’m excited to share with you all the details on her new scents: Kiss You, Love You and Hug You (awww…adorable, yes?). Plus, she tells me where she loves to shop, so bonus. You’ve gotta read this interview!

I Heart Heels: What inspired your new scents?

Laura Marano: Each “flavor” has a different little note within the packaging that gives you specific directions on how to help spread kindness. Honestly, I just think there is always a need for love and kindness, and I thought it would be pretty awesome to have anyone who buys the perfume get inspired to pay it forward in some way.

IHH: So where can we find them and how much?

LM: Anyone around the world can buy it online on Amazon or my web site, and in America, it will be in TJ Maxx and Marshalls. It’s also going to expand to other stores in the next few months. It’s definitely affordable at $10-14.

IHH: How often do you wear perfume? And do you have an application technique?

LM: I usually wear it for more cocktail events, but I sometimes like to wear it casually. I usually spray the air a few times, and walk through the air. I don’t want the smell to overwhelm anywhere I go; you never want to be that person.

IHH: What does your new scent remind you of?

LM: I’m a huge vanilla fan, so I wanted to make all three scents vanilla based, with some extra scents intertwined. Not going to lie, I really got into the scent and design process. You wouldn’t believe how unbelievably fun it is to smell a lot of good scents.

IHH: Ankle boots or block heel pumps for fall?

LM: Ankle boots for sure!

IHH: Who is your celebrity style crush?

LM: Lupita Nyong’o is my celebrity style crush. She’s just so beautiful and classy, and I literally love her.

IHH: You judged Miss America recently. What was that like and what do you think of Miss Arkansas winning? She’s from my home state!

LM: Judging Miss America was so awesome! It was definitely an intense day, but I had a lot of fun learning about the incredible contestants. We got to watch their 15-minute preliminary interviews, and I wish the rest of America got to watch these interviews too because you would not believe how amazing these girls were. Miss Arkansas was so lovely and sweet, and I’m so happy she won!

IHH: Have you ever been in a pageant?

LM: I actually haven’t been in a pageant, but I was in an episode of The Sarah Silverman Program dedicated to pageants. I mean, that’s not the same thing, but they’re kind of connected, right?

IHH: When does your new album drop this year?

LM: The music is all done! I recently worked on some other projects that made my schedule a little more complicated, so now my label and I are just waiting for the best time to release it. My fans have been so lovely and patient, and honestly, I’m at the point where I just want them to hear the music. Hopefully they’ll get to hear a new song pretty soon! I wish I had more details, but unfortunately, that’s basically all I know.

IHH: Can you reveal any special celebrity guest collabs on it?

LM: I don’t want to reveal any of my album surprises, but I definitely have some special things/collabs.

IHH: Last (very important) question. Where do you love to shop?

LM: Topshop, BCBG, Nordstrom, Free People. Gonna be honest with you: I just really love shopping.
