Kristin Cavallari Shares Her Favorites From New Jewelry Line, Uncommon James

Kristin Cavallari is a rockstar mom. I mean, by now we’re pretty much besties. I can always count on KC to talk to me about her latest venture, whether it’s shoes or jewelry. My first interview was with her back in 2010 and my gosh, has she really made a mark on the world as a mom, a wife, an entrepreneur and just all-around cool girl that she is. I love a great success story like KC’s and I recently caught up with her again on her new jewelry line, Uncommon James. It’s subtle, it’s sweet and it’s incredibly chic. I’ve gotta get my fingers on these pieces pronto.

I Heart Heels: What gave you the idea to start Uncommon James?

Kristin Cavallari: I’ve really enjoyed being in the accessories world the past few years and loved the idea of starting my own company. Being my own boss and having that creative freedom is such a dream come true. I have so many ideas floating around my head and love the challenge of growing my own company. It might sound crazy, but this entire process has been really fun for me.

IHH: How will it be different from Emerald Duv?
KC: I wanted a line that was more personal and reflective of my style. I also wanted to be more involved and have complete creative control. I’m now involved in every facet of the company, including actually sketching jewelry and deciding measurements etc. so Uncommon James is really special to me as I’ve poured my heart and soul into it.

IHH: Who’s the “Uncommon James” girl – what’s she like?
KC: She’s a modern on-the-go woman; sophisticated and timeless.

IHH: Where did you get the name?
KC: James is my daughter’s middle name (it was also my brother’s middle name) and even though it’s traditionally a masculine name, I love it for a girl (even though it’s uncommon)…viola!

IHH: Can you tell us one fav piece?
KC: It really is impossible because I love every single piece. I like the stackable triangle rings (One and Only ring) because they’re perfect everyday and can be worn day to night, but I also love the statement necklace (Glitz) because dressed up or down, it’s the perfect amount of glamour for any occasion.

IHH: As a busy working mom, how important is jewelry is to the overall outfit?
KC: It can absolutely make or break it. I think less is more and it’s always best to look effortless, like you aren’t trying too hard.
