Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week F/W ’13: Lela Rose
Wow! Take Jean-Michel Cazabat and pair it with Lela Rose for a New York Fashion Week show and I’m over the moon. It really doesn’t get any better than this! These two designers are both favs of mine, hands down, so when they decided to do this show together I couldn’t stop squealing. In fact, the shoes used were created exclusively for the show! Warning: They’re not for the weak. You will want them all. (outfits, too)
“It was such a pleasure working with Jean-Michel on the shoes for this season. The cut of his shoes perfectly marries a sophisticated silhouette with a stunning streamlined modernity. As designers, we both love beautiful shapes and like to highlight femininity with what we do.” — Lela Rose, designer
Colors of grey, coral (1000 times YES), nude and green were used in a classic d’orsay (the shoe of the moment in both a heel and flat, by the way) and sandal. Even actress Jaime King wore a pair to the show! (see below)
“I‘m thrilled to be working with such a talented fashion designer as Lela this season. The shoes we designed together are in classic shapes, a delicate color palate, and will play off the beauty of her clothing fantastically well.” — Jean-Michel Cazabat, shoe designer
Inspiration for Lela’s fall ’13 collection? The eternal magic, velvety beauty and black horror of the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales. Lela never lets us down with her shows (last season I was literally hanging out with her family and her shoes backstage), and she’s such a southern sweetheart. We love the magic, the color, the bold and the beauty, not to mention the quirkiness all rolled into one. Um, my eyes are on that GREEN pantsuit. Add the JMC shoes and our hearts are won over. Def gonna have a ball this fall.
