Today’s post is near and dear to my heart. Why? Because for the past few months, I’ve been working diligently on little C’s “big boy” room (so cheesy, but what do you want me to call it? haha.). little C. is def his own person…see, he never was much impressed with his former crib (literally), thus at a mere 18 months (or was it 17?) he moved to his new room, which you see here.
His soft-hued blue and brown nursery is now a playroom (and it works out so great because we actually have a living room again, squeal!) For some reason, little C’s always taken to what is formerly the “extra” bedroom (now we have none…) awash in a bright turquoise hue – with white clouds painted on the ceiling, no less. So, once he slept decent in this room (and I say decent because he’s never been a perfect sleeper), we decided to make this “his room” pronto.
So, here’s my newest addition, as of yesterday. A new espresso bookshelf from Target (we have two larger ones in our bedroom and they look so high end to me); a dot canvas by DwellStudio (a personal fav line of mine….and for some reason I’m addicted to dots); an orange “elephant bank” (this also matches the bright-orange shag rug in the room (pics to come later); and my FAV accessory of all…dog bookends by Skip Hop ($35). When I saw the turquoise and orange colors on them, I just knew they would fit in perfect with the room decor. And they’re soft, but weighted, so they work, but I don’t have to worry about any accidents. I’m still trying to convince little C. they are to hold the books on the shelf (he likes to take them off, obvi), so we’ll see how that goes.
When I get time, I’ll share the shag rug and Pottery Barn Kids quilt/sheet set I used on his “new bed” (which is actually his old crib converted…haha, got him on that one!). It’s a work in progress, but so much more fun than decorating my own room, for some odd reason. Guess I’m still a kid at heart…
P.S. You might wonder what little C’s up to lately. His sleep is hit or miss (last night was a full 10 hours in his bed, and that’s why I can still type this.) His fav food right now is tuna fish and he makes a “fish noise” with his mouth that cracks me up. He’s not much for books at the moment because they would require him to sit still, but he can seriously almost sound out the entire alphabet. He can also now hold up his fingers to make the number two (for his b-day party next month, natch). Ok, I’m finished bragging on my little love muffin now. xoxo
