WALTER: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2012
By Tiffany Piñero, Fashion Week Correspondent
Perched high above all the Fashion Week madness was the WALTER presentation on the Empire Hotel‘s rooftop. I must have arrived at the peak of the party, music was blasting, mini bites were being passed, models were rotating their positions, all under the bright red neon lights of the iconic Empire Hotel sign.
Walter, the designer, was right in the center of it all explaining his inspiration for the collection: simple, cool pieces that can go from day to night for his target customer, the chic chick about town. A supple palette in sweet shades of nutmeg and periwinkle, mixed with easy neutrals really honed in on the “chic” aspect. Exciting elements like laser-cut details, nearly-sheer fabrics and refined crop tops infused current trends with a touch of energy – perfect for spring 2012.
