Supima Design Competition
After the yummiest lunch ever at Rosa Mexicano across the street, I headed over to the Supima (Cotton) Design Competition. You’ll never guess the host…none other than RACHEL ZOE. Of course, I was all excited, but of course my seat was at the other end from her and she entered to sit down at *the* last minute (then vanished out of seat afterwards!). I could, however, see her clearly the entire time from my seat…I just wasn’t within ogling distance, haha. I did capture this video of her introduction and you can see the chic pantsuit she wore in the press photo above. The photos below are a couple of the winner’s (Jusil Carroll of FIT) designs (she was inspired by The Blair Witch Project): a sleeveless cocktail dress with a leather shoulder harness (!) and a high-waisted evening gown with a gorgeous layered skirt constructed of dyed and digitally printed shirting, worn with a matching vest with leather embellishment.
The winner accepted her award by saying it was her her first Fashion Week ever. Well, she just won $10,000, and I’m pretty sure this won’t be the last we see of her.
