Monika Chiang: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2012
I started my morning Early (capital E) by picking up my press credentials for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (squeal!) and then heading over to the Monika Chiang presentation at Lincoln Restaurant. Over a piping-hot cup of much-needed coffee and the cutest pint-sized pastries, I chatted with the “emerging” designer (although she’s had her line for under a year now, I don’t really consider her this term because everything was so on point and well crafted). MC designs pretty much anything – jewelry, handbags, clothing (even denim!) and shoes! She showed me all of the animal print, studs, wedges and thigh-high boots, mentioning that there is even a “legging” version boot that is like a “second skin.” Wow. Would love to try those! I think it’s pretty clear by glancing at these photos that any of MC’s pieces could withstand the test of time, but I really love how they have that extra little detail – be it a stud, a gold handle, an extra layer of cotton (she inserts this inside her cashmere sweaters in case someone might be allergic to the fabric!). All of a sudden something old becomes something new. Thanks for showing me around today, Monika!
