DVF with the new Harper-Connect bag (it holds an iPad!)
By now, you know I attended the Lucky Magazine FABB Conferencelast week in New York, right? Well, if you didn’t know it, I did, and I’m here to tell you it’s one of the best things I’ve done for I Heart Heels. Period. The conference takes place twice a year (February/September), so if you ever have the opportunity and you’re a blogger yourself reading this…GO! It was a full day of panels by the most inspiring fashion and beauty folks in the biz, and I listened intently to every minute of it (well, when I wasn’t tweeting their amazing quotes, that is.).
In one single day, I met the legendary Diane von Furstenberg (even though we couldn’t quite coordinate our camera stares amidst the chaos, ha!); Rodger Berman (the Rachel Zoe’s husband and president of her company…by the way, I was wearing a Rachel Zoe blouse from the new fall collection, so he didn’t mind taking his photo with me. He quizzed me, “how do you like it? do you like the fit? do you like the style? do you like the price? typical businessman and so funny!); one of my favorite designers (and very pregnant) Rebecca Minkoff (who was in a rush to get to Lincoln Center, but took one last photo with me! Heart her.), Leslie Blodgett (CEO of Bare Escentuals and a goddess), and several Lucky Magazine editors I look up to from a writing standpoint (John Jannuzzi, Ray Siegel, Jen Ford, Brandon Holley, Caroline Waxler). Everyone was so sweet to me, and the event went off without a hitch!
With the truly amazing Diane von Furstenberg
I definitely think DVF was one of the most inspiring of the day, merely because she’s experienced so much – not to mention, she has the funniest personality. Some quotes from her?
“The most important relationship in life is the one with yourself.”
“All women should have children, but you should also have your own identity.”
“Try not to be corrupt, and be as authentic as you can.”
Lucky Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Brandon Holley
Tons of Essie polishes…my fav
When I left the conference, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world (well, one of 250…)! Besides the heaping Le Sportsac goodie bag we went home with (it was packed to the brim with coupons and beauty products!), during breaks throughout the day, we had the opportunity to shop the different brands that had suites – such as Essie, Fannie May chocolates (these are to DIE for – and gorgeous!), J Brand, Le Sportsac (where they had a really fun DIY booth and I made a studded I Heart Heels crossbody!), Philip Simon shoes, Sorel footwear, ideeli, Laundry by Shelli Segal, Toshiba (where I charged my dead iPhone!), Timberland (check out the last photo…I’m such a dork!) and Zappos (that’s where the shoe cookies came from below…I ate them on the plane!).
Retailers Express, Marshall’s and White House Black Market were also on hand – at Express I got to walk the runway (which I hated my video afterward, but hey!) and at WHBM I styled a model for a photo shoot and now my peep-toes are crossed I might win $500 (for me and you!!).

Khloe Kardashian exiting the room
The Kardashians entering the FABB room
The night before FABB, I actually had a chance to meet the Kardashians at their Kardashian Kollection press preview (yes, I was shaking!), but at FABB, I was so glad to hear what they had to say about how they’ve built their business (because, as bloggers, we’re all entrepreneurs!). The girls are all so much fun when they’re together, and you can tell they have that sister bond – so cute. A few tidbits from them?
Kourtney doesn’t have a nanny, and Sundays are “Mason” (her 21-month-old-son) days.
Khloe loves crazy shoes and bags (and she’s so funny in person!).
“We might be doing a lot, but we love and are passionate about everything we do,” Kourtney said.
Their mom, Kris Jenner, taught them to use a hot washcloth before bed. They mostly said to keep things simple when it comes to beauty. Kourtney likes Aquaphor.
Kim says their grandmothers taught them a lot about fashion.

All of the panels were informative in their own way, and I can’t even begin to pick the best because they all offered something different. From Building a Brand to Working with Brands and Building a Business, I really took home a lot of helpful tips for I Heart Heels. Plus, I met some of the most amazing bloggers! It’s so nice to put faces with Twitter handles.

Can’t wait to slip on these Sorel boots come winter

So, as you can see, I had a day that was BEYOND (hate to say this, but it was FAB). And I have to thank Lucky Magazine for pulling it off. You. guys. rock. Hope to see you in February…I’m hooked!
Shoe cookies from Zappos…I swoon
Modeling winter duds from Timberland…they’ll be donated to the needy!
