Lacoste: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2012

OMG!! This was probably the most shocking show for me thus far. And, of course I mean shocking in the most fabulous way! When I think of Lacoste, I usually think of tennis court/country club style looks. Well, fashionistas, that’s changed. It’s still sporty, but with an added chicness and softness that allows you to wear this to more than just casual occasions, such as your usual tennis match. I could totally see ladies wearing these looks to work, drinks with their friends, or a night on the town. That’s how versatile and current this collection is. I L-O-V-E-D everything about this collection. This is the first collection for Felipe Oliveira Baptista at Lacoste, and to me he hit it out of the park (or closet, so to speak).
He used silk, wool voile, leather and linen to create sophisticated, yet casual looks. I loved the pop of blue in both the men’s and women’s looks, especially the men’s blazer. It was a nice change from the normal neutral. If you love the label’s iconic polo, you will DIE for the jersey-knit dresses. Baptista brings a sleek edge to Lacoste and I guess you could say he brought the sexy back to this line. With body-hugging, cut-out designs, these garments are sure to turn heads. His transformation from casual to subtle classiness without making too much of a jump, shows just how crazy-talented he really is. I see big things from him in future collections. I could totally see someone wearing the floor-length navy blue jersey dress (above) next season at fashion week, it would be a MAJOR head turner.
