Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2011: Tracy Reese
Did you know Tracy Reese is one of my fav designers? And no, I’m not just saying that. I have been waiting season after season to see her show (one season it was over capacity just as I had sprinted from another show, and the next season the same thing happened…she’s popular, chicsters!), and Monday afternoon I saw it – from my second row perch, no less!! There were 42 looks, and I felt like I could wear them all. Tracy designs with the everyday woman in mind. Finally – someone gets it!
I will def be buying myself a floppy hat (they were throughout her collection, and other shows I saw, too), and maybe even a pair of these circular black-rimmed glasses (geek chic, anyone?). Inspired by glamorous travel and new and exotic environments, everything felt contemporary, yet classic. I could see myself jet-setting around the airport in one of Tracy’s frocks, and I love that I could probably keep one of these pieces in my closet until I’m 40 (um, if I lay off the cream puffs, that is). She’s known for her dresses, sure, but I couldn’t get over the shorts. The army blue henley and cuffed shorts below and the black and ivory cardigan paired with black shorts were both so spot-on chic. And, thank goodness big sleeves are still in because I adore them. Another must-have for spring? A trench dress – belted trench dress. See below and place your orders, chicettes.
P.S. Hair was by Jeanie Syfu for TRESemme and make-up by Mally Roncal for Mally Beauty. Shoes? Highline United for Tracy Reese.
P.P.S. I spotted models Beverly Johnson and Veronica Webb (hello, I walked out of the show with Veronica and didn’t realize later who the tall, beautiful Birkin-wielding woman was, sigh…), as well as a very slender and blonde Kelly Osbourne (who made her way backstage entirely too quickly for me to snap a photo!).
