NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Aveda for Rodarte
Rodarte definitely knows how to put on a show! But personally, I don’t dig their designs at all. Maybe our friend, Kiki – aka “Kirsten Dunst” loves, but for me, I just don’t follow. Gothic undertones lend to a collection of lots of black and more black. Which, I love. But, I just don’t do the pieced-together grungy look of cobwebs and crystals.
I give it to the Rodarte team for livening things up and pulling out all the creativity they can muster – makes for a great production! But, wearability is low, in my opinion.
Odile Gilbert once again did the hair for Aveda – just as interesting as the collection, right? Braided hair is thrown back into a think veil of black wool. Yikes!
“The netting of black wool echoes the collection’s knits and
textures. The look is raw, hard, and organic.” –Odie Gilbert, Aveda
So, how could a woman achieve this look on her own?
“This look can be worn with or without the black netting, and can be striking for evening wear,” Gilbert says. “Begin by prepping wet hair with Aveda Phomollient™ Styling Foam and blow-drying loosely with fingers. Layer hair generously with Aveda Pure Abundance™ Hair Potion and rake through to create texture and volume. Pin the sides back securely to create a roughed-up cascade that is swept away from the face. Finish with Aveda Air Control™ Hair Spray for hold.”
