Winter Fashion Is Here, Are You Ready?
Don’t stress yourself about winter fashion! You will find the answers to all these questions below, because we are going to talk about the top looks of the season and some trends that you may find you want to try! From flattering cuts, to top swatches and through dominant accessories, consider what pieces to wear for the next few months and what outdated items to leave in the past at all costs. Take a look at THE ICONIC NZ for inspiration!
1. The 90s are back!
The fashion of the 80s has now come back to the fore for a few years. However, during the current season, we observe that the focal point is shifting a bit in time and we are already looking to the 90s as a source of stylistic inspiration. We can even say that the trend goes even further, as several fashionistas are adopting the look from head to toe, instead of drawing a few elements from it as accent pieces as was most often the case until now. .
To follow this trend, bring together a short pleated skirt, a small turtleneck sweater, an extra long trench coat and cowboy boots. Or wear a “good girl” cardigan with a grunge style miniskirt and ankle boots. You can also layer a white T-shirt and a little slip dress or a pretty dungarees and a large sweatshirt. A plaid shirt and skate jeans with pretty-ugly dad-shoe-style sneakers work just as well. If in doubt, just channel Rachel Green from the Friends sitcom and you’ll be safe.
2. Fall winter 2021/2022 fashion trends: saturated shades
Typically, the transition from summer to fall means swapping the pretty pastels and tropical colors for navy blue, khaki green, brown, burgundy and other somewhat melancholy hues. In fall 2021, however, vibrant undertones reign supreme, with just a dash of fall mood. Think precious sapphire, deep magenta, mustard yellow, aristocratic purple, and fir green, among others. The best way to embrace this trend is to be bold and go for some unexpected color combinations. Combine peach orange and bright blue or candy pink and velvet green to form a look that is both wonderfully colorful and appropriate for the season. Ultimately, the world belongs to the bold, right?
3. We opt for all wide-cut jeans
Skinny or slim fit jeans will always hold a special place in our hearts, but not this October / November. Fall winter 2021/2022 fashion trends are geared towards ultimate comfort with loose denim. Currently, loose fit such as mom jeans, flare, bootcut, straight, regular and boyfriend jeans are the way to go. Mom jeans and straight denim, both high waisted, are particularly popular silhouettes this season. To achieve this look, you need to balance the fullness of the extra tissue concentrated on your lower body. So we suggest you wear a fitted t-shirt and a jacket, an elegant tucked-in blouse or a knitted cardigan.
4. Fall winter fashion trends 2021/2022: the mesh cardigan
To be frank, the mesh vest fashion first appeared in 2020. Yet it’s just as powerful in the fall of 2021 which means we just couldn’t exclude it from our list. The most popular styles are those with some texture and embossed details on the front. The sleeveless cross-stitch braid sweater made in one wool color is totally in!
How to dress in October and November basically depends on where you live, right? If you’re in the southern hemisphere for example, it’s actually coming into the warmer months! But if the temperatures are cold, you can layer your mesh cardigan over a blouse or shirt dress. If, on the other hand, it’s still hot, you can even wear your knitted cardigan without anything underneath!
5. Two-piece that shows a little skin
This summer, we tried to hide the stomach instead, even at the beach with one-piece swimsuits, tankinis and so on. This fall, fashion takes a surprising twist and shows off some skin along the equator. We do this mainly by pairing a long or mid-length skirt and a cropped top also known as a crop top. Of course, if you feel embarrassed to expose your belly, you can simply opt for a classic top and a matching midi or maxi skirt which will create the same attractive effect.
6. Fall winter 2021/2022 fashion trends: printed pants
Snake, checkerboard, zebra stripe and floral print pants will dominate fall winter 2021/2022 fashion trends. Aside from the flowy materials we wore in summer, these panties can also be made in much heavier fabrics. Denim, corduroy, tweed and wool are just a few of the possibilities worth mentioning. Have fun pairing the printed pants with other vibrant designs or keep it simple and let it steal the show with a plain black, white or gray sweater.
7. The quilted handbag will be on top this season
When it comes to accessories, the quilted handbag is all the rage in October 2021 and it will last! Think of all kinds of nicely puffed up shoulder straps, tote bags, and even pouches that are made mostly of leather. The best part about this trend is that you can choose any style and size you like! Also consider the baguette bag from the 90s and the fanny pack worn on the belt or as a shoulder strap.
8. Fall winter fashion trends 2021/2022: lavender
While most of the winter 2021/2022 trend colors you’ll see over the next few months are much more saturated and rich, as we’ve seen before. You’ll also appreciate shades of pale lilac, mauve, and lavender. The pretty hues appeared on the fashion catwalks during the catwalks of all the famous fashion houses. And in a wide variety of styles too! So choose one or two lavender clothing items to try and recreate the look of top models and Instagram fashionistas. Look at a blazer, wide leg pants! You can also try a lavender midi-dress or opt for the classic long leg jean!
