How I Got Clear Skin Again
HAPPY NEW YEAR, Y’ALL!
My spunky Southern self is back from break (and yeah, I know I’ve been snoozing on here a bit, too). In case you weren’t sure, I went from this blog being my baby (that grew and grew and grewwwww) in 2008 to something that became quite the full-time job for me when I thought I was merely staying at home with my kids – to a side gig where I worked in digital media and SEO alongside this sweet little thing. Fast forward it’s a side gig to me being a kindergarten teacher. And let me tell ya. Ain’t no side gig like a kindergarten teacher side gig. Some days I’m just all written out with nothing left in me. I have so many of these brilliant posts written up in my brain, but it’s the time and effort that beat me down. That’s in addition to the magazine writing side gig I’ve taken on since last April and honeys, I wouldn’t trade it all for the world. So lucky.
So, without further ado I HAVE TO (must…must…must) tell you about my skincare routine I started back in November. My skin has moments where it will completely freak. out. And just before the holidays, it did that. So I freaked out and decided I couldn’t fight it alone. Even the miracle $300 dermatologist cream I relied on was failing me.
I visited a local shop (winc, if you wanna know), and homegirl fixed my skin with a brand-new daily routine from Indie Lee. I might very well die if it ever goes discontinued. It took right around two weeks for my skin to become bliss, but it happened.
The routine:
Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser
Indie Lee COQ-10 Toner (which is generally always sold out everywhere…it’s that secret ingredient I’ve been missing all my life)
**Dermatologist miracle cream (benzaclin)
Indie Lee Moisurizer (here, it’s just a sample)
I really believe that the two steps of the toner and moisturizer were the two I had been missing forever. I had never really had a proper routine, and since I have oily skin I didn’t believe I should use a moisturizer. This is a common myth in the skin world, and one I want to shout from the rooftops. YOUR SKIN NEEDS MOISTURE!
My skin now isn’t perfect every, single day. But by following this routine (consistently!), my skin is so freaking dewy and glowing, I’m amazed. If you’re looking for a fresh, no-chemical-formula to try on your skin, this is the skincare ticket. In two weeks…you’re welcome. Xoxo
