How I Wore My Heels: Fancy Shorts & How to Style Them

With Memorial Day weekend approaching this weekend, we can all pretty much say it’s summer. (squeal!) If it wasn’t for amazing fall footwear, I have a hard time trudging through the rest of the year. Give. Me. Summer. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the “country” and I’m from the south where we hate to wear socks? Maybe it’s because I grew up summering at the beach. Whatever the case, give me some amazing Vitamin D and I’m so, so happy. Now, how to style shorts, you ask?

Summer absolutely makes me automatically change my wardrobe – it’s hard to escape! Bright colors are everywhere, and they change my entire attitude when I wear them. So why not, right? Lilly Pulitzer is the ultimate when it comes to brights, and I basically live in these printed shorts every weekend. You, too, can live in fancy shorts like this – and you can style them. The key is balance. (and add a pair of espadrilles like these from Sperry!)

How to Style Shorts

I’ve been playing with styling shorts lately, and the utility vest is my absolute go-to when it comes to polishing off practically any look. I wear it with dresses, ripped jeans – and now shorts! The muted olive green color and the structure of it is a great balance with the rest of the “loud” outfit, dontcha think?

And speaking of loud, who can resist a pair of mirrored sunnies – in white, no less. I picked these up at a local boutique for just $18. Total steal! And now I’m ready for the rest of my rock concerts (did I mention I saw Bush the other day? Total throwback.).
