Your guide to treating yourself (for a change!)
Whether you’re running after the kids all week, dashing to social events, trying to keep your workload under control or you just can’t remember the last time you had five minutes to yourself, then it’s pretty obvious that you need to stop right now and treat yourself.
Treating yourself doesn’t have to mean maxing out your credit cards and going on shopping spree, (not that I would recommend anyone maxing out their credit cards) but did you know that there are ways you can spoil yourself without compromising your finances? It’s true – read on for your super simple guide to treating yourself – for a change!
Treat your skin
When you have a busy lifestyle, your skin is usually the first thing that is neglected – and it shows. Tired, dull, flaky and sometimes oily, not forgetting that perfectly timed acne outbreak right before an important meeting or date night with your partner. Treat your skin with a new primer – check out the best primers as rated by Vogue here – a new exfoliator (always go for natural ingredients), and a gorgeously indulgent moisturiser. Don’t forget to cleanse, tone and moisturise every morning and evening!
Listen to an audio book
Finding the time to sit and read is like finding goldust…and even though many of us would love to sit and flick through the pages of a book we never quite got round to finishing, it’s just not practical. You can still treat your imagination and take a break from your schedule with a good audio book. You can still drive to the shops and listen or make those household chores a little more bearable. If there’s an old childhood favourite you enjoyed – treat yourself!
Flowers
Who said you have to wait for someone to buy you flowers so you can enjoy them? My advice is to go and treat yourself right now with a gorgeous bunch of your absolute favorites.
Book a day off work
But why? Because you deserve it! Take a day off work for no particular reason and just enjoy not having to set that alarm. You could take the opportunity to catch up on some “home admin” or just spend the day doing something you love. Meet with friends or go visit family, enjoy yourself!
Get a little something
We’d all love to shop until we drop. But as mentioned above, too much splurging isn’t advisable or sensible. You can still treat yourself though, bypass those designer shoes for now and get yourself something small; a new notebook and pens, a new underwear set or a gorgeous new lipstick.
Enjoy your lunch alfresco
They say spending time out in the fresh air for as little as ten minutes a day can do wonders for your mental health. So, give it a go! If the weather is kind enough, take your lunch out of the office and enjoy watching the world go by as enjoy your break. You’ll find that you feel even more refreshed when you head back into the office.
Go on, you deserve it!

First of all I would like to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your
head before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems
like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost simply just
trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips?
Appreciate it!
