And here was my home away from home just last week while I was at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York – none other than The Empire Hotel, directly across from Lincoln Center, where fashion week takes place. Located on the Upper West Side, the location of this hotel just can’t be beat. And now that I’ve stayed here several seasons, I just can’t imagine staying anywhere else (hotel snob, perhaps? don’t care one bit.)
Fashion Week in September calls for a slightly heftier price, but believe me when I say it’s all worth it for the convenience. You just can’t be hiking all over the place in heels (you do enough of that prancing from show to show and hailing cabs, hear me out.). I once stayed at a hotel seven blocks away and while it was on a nice residential block, the long morning walks to Lincoln Center wearing flats and changing into my heels once there were pretty much a headache. Besides, there’s nowhere you can stay where you walk into the lobby to check in and the E! News crew is planning their next story on the lobby sofa (hello, Zanna Roberts Rassi!).
I love the locale, but I also heart the decor to pieces. The whole place is ancient, but it’s been restored and decorated to the nines with all things modern. And if you’ve seen Gossip Girl, you’ll totally recognize it all. The lobby is an incredible place alone just to people watch and recharge (not to mention there’s a great full-length mirror for all those blogger selfies as you head out for the day). Ed’s Chowder House on the second floor has some amazing seafood, and there’s a super-chic rooftop bar that everyone lines up to attend in the evening. If there’s a fashion week event happening, it’s more than likely going down at The Empire.
Our dreamy bed just before turndown
We got really lucky this time around with an incredible view of Lincoln Center just outside our window, and I could see the mobs of photographers trying to catch the latest street style bloggers. We had a deluxe room and it was just right for me and my sister…not too small at all like you see some rooms in the city where you can’t even walk past the bed. I hung my things in the closet, enjoyed the cashews (and $7.50 water…ZOMG) in the room, and especially took advantage of the rain water shower. Gotta love it. And considering I had a double ear infection, the first night I slept was a little eh, but that second night was pure and true BLISS. I slept until almost 9:30 a.m. with no kids and the bed was all I dreamed it would be. I just wanna say thank you, thank you to The Empire Hotel for making my fashion week stay as extraordinary as always. I always have the best time here and wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Air kisses until next season…xoxo

Upon arrival…all rooms have a nice full-length mirror. Wink.
The lobby mirror outside the elevators…just before DKNY
The grainiest photo EVER – but my sister G. & I had A BLAST!
