Kristin Cavallari On Being A (Stylish!) Mom
Hey, gal pals. Hope your week is off to a great start! I’m loving today’s Q&A with Kristin Cavallari, fellow shoe lover (we were chatting shoes way back in 2010, y’all!) and host of the new E! show The Fabulist. Kristin’s due to have her second baby boy any day now, so we were lucky to be able to steal a few must-have answers from her before she’s off to baby bliss. For instance, how does she look rested when she’s really not (I’m gonna use her tips after working on this post late into the night!)…and what shoes she’s wearing right now. Of course she’s been rocking tons of great heels lately, but aren’t the flats she loves below simply adorable? Read on for more! P.S. Can’t wait to see the new baby, KC!
I Heart Heels: Congrats on your pregnancy! How have you been feeling?
Kristin Cavallari: Thanks! I’ve been feeling great! I’m lucky because both pregnancies have been pretty easy.
IHH: There are lots of things to research before delivering. Do you have a birth plan, and what are some things you definitely want in your plan?
KC: I had a great experience the first time at the hospital, so I’m hoping it goes just as smoothly. I’m not the kind of person to write down my birth plan, though. I think it’s better to go in with an open mind.
IHH: How do you plan balancing two with your busy schedule?
KC: It’s going to be hard for the first few months, but we have family close by to help when I have to travel. Luckily Jay won’t be working full-time until the end of July.
IHH: We’re such fans of every shoe in your Chinese Laundry collection. Which shoe have you been wearing lately, and what’s a great shoe for new moms running errands all day?
KC: Thanks! I’ve been living in my Gigi flats (above) lately. They’re simple, so they go with everything. Also, the Cadence flat (below) is extremely comfortable while still being stylish. That’s a great one for new moms.
IHH: How has being a mom changed you…in your style and life, in general?
KC: It hasn’t really changed my style. I think just because you’re a mom, it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. You can still be fashionable and wear what you love. It’s important to stay true to who you are. It’s changed my life in a million ways for the better, but overall I just have more love and happiness in my life. It doesn’t matter how hard things get, I can always be with Camden and it instantly puts me in a good mood, and makes me remember what’s important in life.
“Just because you’re a mom, it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style.” — Kristin Cavallari, new mom and host of The Fabulist
IHH: What’s it like hosting a show on E!? How did you prepare for it?
KC: It’s been a blast! I feel incredibly lucky to host The Fabulist because it’s the dream job. We talk about all of the things I love to talk about — the trends in fashion, beauty, food and beverage, and health and fitness. I prepare every week by going over each trend and doing research if I don’t know too much about one of them.
IHH: What can we expect from the show going forward?
KC: The show will continue to be fun, informative and fast paced, and we’ll also have great guests on.
IHH: Will you take time off from all of your projects for baby #2?
KC: Yes. I’ve been home for the past couple weeks, and I plan on taking some time off after having him as well.
IHH: How are you dressing your bump lately…any fav brands?
KC: Isabella Oliver is great for basics, and I love ASOS. I’ve been living in leggings, a basic tee and blazer.
IHH: What’s one secret of yours to looking like you got a full night’s sleep?
KC: Concealer, eye drops and dry shampoo.
