Ali Fedotowsky Dishes on Her Dream Job at E!
I Heart Heels: What was your life like before TV? Did you ever dream you would be working for E! News one day?
Ali Fedotowsky: Never in a million years did I think I would work for E! News. It was always one of my favorite shows and it’s really incredible to be a part of it now. Before TV, I worked at Facebook and before that, I worked for a company that was subcontracted by the IRS. I wrote taxpayer satisfaction reports. Ha! Part of my job was to write the reports and make sure they were error free in terms of spelling and grammar. The funny thing is I’m terrible with grammar, so as you can imagine, this wasn’t my favorite job. I was really bad at it. Then I found a home at Facebook and loved it. I worked with so many driven, intelligent people who encouraged me to be my best self every day. It was awesome.
In terms of my personal life, I lived in San Francisco in the Marina district and absolutely loved it. Sometimes I miss it. But my personal life is so wonderful right now I don’t miss it too much!
IHH: What’s one of your favorite things about your new gig as an E! News correspondent?
AF: The people I work with. I really admire and look up to many of the people I work with. I see how hard they work and it makes me want to work harder. We put on a brand-new, hour-long show every day. That isn’t easy! There are a lot of incredible people working behind the scenes that the viewers never see.
AF: Unfortunately no. I used to do hot yoga all the time and I absolutely loved it. But the past couple of years I fell out of it, mostly because I moved and there isn’t a hot yoga studio near my place. But also because I don’t have a ton of free time and the free time I do have I would much rather spend with my puppy Owen and my boyfriend Kevin. So the three of us will go on walks and hikes. That’s the extent of my workout routine, although I’m hoping to get back into working out soon. I just need motivation, as all of you know isn’t the easiest thing in the world.
Right now I’m at the Olympics in Russia with E! News and my daily workout is walking around this huge Olympic park. My legs are so sore at the end of the day just from walking.
I didn’t make a New Years resolution. Instead, I’m constantly trying to remind myself of ways I can be a better girlfriend, daughter, employee and person, in general.
IHH: Do you have any beauty/skincare secrets or favorite products you’d like to share? You always look so amazing and polished!
AF: I mix lotion with my foundation. I’m always forgetting to moisturize so I find that if I make it a part of my makeup routine, I’m more likely to do it. Moisturizing your skin is so important!
IHH: How has your style changed since you’ve moved west, and where are a few places you love to shop? You must have a favorite pair of shoes right now?
AF: My TV style has changed so much. My personal style, not as much. I still wear a t-shirt, jeans and Chucks when I’m out with friends, but once in a while I’ll dress a little more stylish. I used to only wear really bright colors, but now I wear a little more black and I never used to wear black.
