Noon by Noor Lets Nature Guide Fall Collection…LOVE
By Kafi Drexel
When you’re setting a runway show under the tents of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, every piece paraded down the catwalk should make the crowd “ooh” and “ahhh” louder than what preceded it. That’s exactly what happened at the Noon by Noor Fall 2014 showing. (And squeal, I managed to sit just a couple seats down from Coco Rocha’s and Solange Knowles’ “oohs” and “ahhs”).
Cousin designers Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaika Haya Al Khalifa relied on the whimsical side of nature to guide their fall creations. That includes gentle crystals, minerals and cloud formations. You know, the kind of whimsical nature scene Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood finds herself in when she’s in full fairy mode? The collection also glimmers the regal luxury of their Bahrain lineage.
The color palette runs from ice blue, cool mint, mauve, vanilla, pale and royal purple to navy and burgundy. You don’t just see this in the expansion of gorgeous eveningwear, but everyday separates (okay…everyday separates that you would wear to a really fancy brunch or bridal shower), and amazing, voluminous, oversized coats. I wanted to cloak myself straight off the runway.
The final moment in the show was a cream, cascading embellishment gown. It was indeed the “wedding dress” moment closer of the show, either intentionally or unintentionally so. Said a fashion blogger next to me “I want to get married in that.” It’s a dress that seriously looked amazing from every angle. There are few not overly-manufactured heavenly moments in fashion shows. This was one of them – and it was perfect.
