Maria Sharapova Shares Her Winter Olympics Style
With the Sochi Winter Olympics beginning tomorrow, we’re def getting excited to cozy up by the fire in our heart PJs, hot chocolate in hand, to watch some amazing figure skating. I mean, right?! It makes it even better that this year’s NBC commentators are so good, including international tennis sensation Maria Sharapova! Sochi is, in fact, her hometown, and she’s been looking so chic this week in prep for the big games. She helped unveil the new Porsche Panamera in a Michael Kors dress, Bottega Venetta coat and Jimmy Choo shoes, after all. And, of course, made time for her younger fans who stopped by during their tennis camps to sample a bit of her eponymous candy line, Sugarpova. Alexander McQueen dress, check. Max Mara coat, check.
So, I Heart Heels was incredibly excited and just dying to know what Maria’s looking forward to this week, and what we can expect from her style-wise, of course. Sooooo pumped for all the figure skating and fashion, y’all. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule, Maria, to answer our burning questions and good luck with your fabulous gig. xoxo
I Heart Heels: How exciting to be a commentator for the Olympic Games in your hometown! Who are you excited to see compete and what excites you most about returning to your hometown?
Maria Sharapova: It’s such an amazing opportunity. Sochi is my hometown, and being able to share that with the world feels great. I played in the Summer Games in London, so this experience just means so much more to me as an Olympian myself. Sochi is an amazing place – often far different from what people think! I’m personally really excited for the figure skating and hockey.
IHH: We at I Heart Heels adore your Sugarpova candy! What’s your personal favorite?
MS: I love them all – my team jokes that I’m the official taste tester. But my favorite has to be “Quirky”. It’s a strawberry-flavored rainbow toffee with a creamy marshmallow center.
IHH: You’ve been dressing so stylish for your Sochi events such as Porsche and Sugarpova – we love! What can we expect from your commentator style?
MS: My commentator style will be along the same vein – I’m loving this opportunity to wear coats and outerwear. I normally don’t have that opportunity with red carpet events. I’ll gravitate toward layers and some chunky knits – but always paired back to something a little unexpected and sleek like a leather legging.
