Whiny Wednesday: Maternity Lingerie from Trimester to Trimester
Let’s talk lingerie, shall we? Maternity lingerie, for now. Do I have you all running yet? Hear me out..there are some chic underthings out there and you might need to know someday, if you don’t already. One of the hardest things to find to wear during pregnancy, in moi opinion, is not really clothing, but lingerie! So I’ve decided to break down what’s best and when, after many trials and tribulations:
First Trimester
So obvi this is the trimester where you gain just a few pounds (haha! in the “books” anyway), and you don’t really need new, pretty underwear just yet. I was able to make what I already owned work since most of my styles were lower rise and bikini. Until the…
Second Trimester
This is when you’re going to start looking for new, pretty underwear, mamas. Sorta the help, nothing is fitting anymore (!) stage. This is when you need to buy regular underwear and size up! I’m a big fan of Maidenform’s Dream Bikini with Lace (and you can buy 4 for just $28!). Instead of ordering your normal size, just size up one and they’ll fit under the belly great (it has a “flexible fit”). I love the “no dig” design, and although I’m not a huge fan of the lace part (it can tear if you’re not careful), it’s nice because it doesn’t cut into the skin like other popular brands I’ve worn. These are comfy and the silky fabric feels so good! Tip: Going with a lower rise like these is way better than a “granny panty” because while they might feel ok at first, they’ll start to cut into your belly the bigger you get…ugh.
Third Trimester
And here we are now…whew. Thought I’d save you a selfie on this one, and post the stock photo of one of my absolute go-to bras. From now until eternity, too. It’s a nursing bra from Cake Lingerie and it’s a dream! I was sent the Convertible Nursing Bra in Dark Toffee (with matching undie) to try out, and I’ve been wearing it now for the last several weeks…it’s so good and I think it will only get better with the snap on-off nursing strap! Besides the fact that it’s the prettiest bra I own now (yay for pink bows!), it’s got function, too. It converts three ways (halter, cross cross and normal) and up to a D cup has no wire (sometimes those annoy me…depends on the individual bra). The cups are seamless so I can wear with anything, even tees. Perhaps, what I love just as much though is the matching undie…it has more coverage and comfort than any I’ve tried so far. Because, well, to be frank, my bottom nor belly’s getting any smaller. 😉
Besides Cake, I’m also loving the low-rise hipsters from Victoria’s Secret in one size up! Lots of cute patterns to choose from, so that’s a plus. So important to feel good getting dressed every morning these days! 😉
P.S. Congrats to Ashley C., the winner of last week’s giveaway, a $75 Zutano gift card! Don’t forget the HALO SleepSack Swaddle giveaway ends at 5:00 p.m. CST today….go enter!
