The Chicest Heel Trends for Fall
Who better to give a rundown on the top ‘heel’ trends for fall than arguably the only other person on the planet whose love of shoes rivals mine? Leslie Gallin, of course. She’s Vice President of Footwear for FN PLATFORM, the industry’s leading footwear event where brands gather each year to decide which trends will be on store shelves for the coming season! Here’s Leslie’s take on some of the hottest styles for Fall ‘13!
“We’re seeing some really exciting trends happening with heels this season. The platform heel and peep-toe silhouettes were with us for quite some time, but manufacturers now are really mixing it up and you’re going to see all different sizes and shapes. There’s literally something for everyone – whether you’re shopping for comfort, height, or a fabulous shoe with a real wow factor. Some of the top trends shoe lovers can expect will include:
“The chunky heel” – There’s a real return to a slimmer, feminine shoe, but even some of those styles will have a dramatic, chunky heel in interesting round and square shapes
“The wedge heel” – The wedge silhouette hits new highs and lows this season – literally. We’re seeing it in everything from sneakers to boots, lower comfort styles to taller, stacked wedges that cater to virtually every customer
“The kitten heel” – Believe it or not, this style is actually back by popular consumer demand. It’s easy to wear, feminine and complements a lot of what’s happening in ready-to-wear!
“The pointy-toe pump” – The most popular new silhouette is definitely the classic, closed-toe pump. Again, it’s very flattering on the foot and works well with many of the apparel trends we’re seeing this season like the return of the pencil skirt!
“Unusual heels” – Designers are really getting adventurous this season and offering heels of various geometric shapes. These cool statement shoes really deliver that wow-factor fashionistas tend to crave!
“The platform heel” – For the customer who’s not quite ready to part with the added height this shoe offers, rest assured, you will still have some options, especially in updated designs like the ‘cut-out’ and Mary Jane silhouette and some with a slightly pointier toe
