Whiny Wednesday: The Land of Nod for the Holidays
It’s so annoying when people say “I can‘t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving!” So I’m not gonna say it…but wow, really, where did time go this year? I’m so happy the holidays are upon us, and I can spend more time with family. This is both birthday and Christmas time in our household, so things get just a tad crazy (without mentioning we’re hosting Thanksgiving at our house next week). But, in a good way!
I absolutely love watching little C. open his gifts and get excited…that’s most of the fun for me! This year, I’ve really been shopping just a few select stores and whittled it down to my favorites so it’s much less stressful. The top of the list? The Land of Nod.
Honestly, I‘d never bought much there for little C. as a baby (heck, give him a pile of lids and he’s good), but now that he’s turning three, I wanna scoop up nearly everything in it! They really do have the most adorable things, and many are eco-friendly (and they don’t just say it, they really are). I was so grateful when the brand offered to let us try out the new Tip the Scale toy ($44)…seriously right up little C’s left-brained alley. This charming wooden toy (don‘t you love it when toys are charming, too?) is not only fun but educational in that it teaches colors, sorting, stacking – and, of course, sizes and weight. (speaking of…we put him on the “real” scale last night and were surprised to see he gained a couple more pounds!) This toy is great for both girls and boys and is recommended for one year and up – although, as you can tell, is a great investment, entertaining little ones all the way to three.
And I have to show you what I found for little C’s birthday…I think he’s gonna heart it to pieces. Pretty much the cutest beanbag toss ($69) ever. Apparently it’s great for hand-eye coordination (hey, maybe it will help me, too) and err, taking turns (this will be a learning point, I can guarantee). And once again, isn’t it easy on the eyes?
The Land of Nod for the holidays? I’m def nodding my head yes.
P.S. All you lucky NYers will have the chance through December 31 to shop the The Land of Nod pop-up shop in Soho at 136 Prince Street, truly bringing the brand’s Holiday Toy Shop to life at over 3,200 square feet of space. The shop will also host unique children’s events each week including book readings and DIY crafts such as puppet making. On site holiday gift boxing is also available. I’m so jealous…although my credit card is probably safer being far, far away. 😉
