Whiny Wednesday: Knights of the Plaza
What? Seriously? The Plaza hotel in New York (duh) is unveiling a “Knights of the Plaza” package and one-of-a-kind tower suite, beginning June 22. Remember Eloise, right? Well, this is a boy’s complete dream version of living it up at the renowned, glam hotel by Central Park.
The suite features a round bed within a unique circle-shaped bedroom overlooking 5th Avenue. The 23-foot exposed brick cathedral ceiling exemplifies medieval architecture, giving the bedroom the authentic feeling of spending the night in a real-life siege tower (are you gasping yet?). The living room features the Plaza’s very own coat of arms, which is derived from elements in the family crest of Henry J. Hardenbergh, the original Plaza architect. And get this, the hotel’s “Family Ambassador” will be dedicated to curating custom experiences for families staying at the hotel, before, during and after their stay. Holy cannoli, y’all. This is for real.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome this new family component to The Plaza’s existing first-class offerings. Our Eloise program has been a smashing success, and the addition of the “Knights of The Plaza” program will reaffirm our position as the top urban resort in New York City, especially for families.” — Cynthia Scherer, Director of Sales and Marketing of The Plaza
According to the press release, your son’s “authority will be validated by a pin worn to indicate that the hotel is now under the medieval hero’s protection.” And he’ll receive an eight-inch metallic painted chocolate knight upon arrival, medieval-themed DVDs and books, and a closet full of knight dress-up outfits and toys from FAO Schwarz to complete the experience. I mean, I can’t. This is too much, right?
