Rachel Roy: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week F/W 2012
By Tiffany Piñero, Fashion Week Correspondent
An air of subtlety was present in Alice Tully Hall for the Rachel Roy fall 2012 presentation. This demure collection exuded a very natural palette of all things earth, water – and at the end – a burst of warm, fuchsia sun. Leather was here and there, adding an edge to great staple pieces like easygoing trousers. Knits were chunky, and oversized turtlenecks framed faces fabulously. The draping is what took the line in a sleek direction, lifting a grey dress from basic to bold with an interesting peek-a-boo hem of that energetic fuchsia.
Oh, and the news that needs to be known?? There are a few shoe pieces debuting with this collection! Practical heels that are beyond cab to curb friendly for the work-chic commuter. Textured pumps and peep-toes at modest heights, in supple suede and some with a touch of pony hair. Overall, there were plenty promising pieces for fall that will need to make their way to our closets, naturally.
