Whiny Wednesday: Betsey Johnson Designs an Eloise Tree for The Plaza
The Plaza. Everyone’s heard of it, right? Let me tell you of my personal experience – it’s one I’ll never, EVER forget. While I was interning in New York for the summer at Seventeen, my family came to town to visit for several days…and they stayed at The Plaza. As you can imagine, I had my bags packed outta my NYU dorm in T minus 10 seconds and hailed a cab over to my new digs for the week. Yep, it was everything I had imagined. The morning I’ll always remember is the morning everyone set out (on a weekday) to check out the city, leaving moi (alllll alone) to wake up in my huge manse (bathroom and all!) to get ready for work. It. was. a. dream. I felt like a princess.
“I absolutely loooove The Plaza, along with Eloise of course! I’ll be poppin’ in to light the Eloise tree and kick off my Betsey holiday pop-up shop, filled with my favorite stocking stuffers and more. There’s something for everybody! Pop in and say hi!” — XOX Betsey
Of course, every girl loves little Eloise from the classic books, and this holiday season The Plaza has partnered with designer Betsey Johnson for, get this, an Eloise tree (pictured here is her original sketch)! Squealing all over, girlies. (I just can’t believe this is The Plaza’s first official Christmas tree?!) If you’re around, you should stop by the official tree lighting tea November 28 at 5 p.m. ($75 per adult, $45 per child, call 212-546-5300 or email palmcourt@fairmont.com) There’s also a holiday pop-up shop with lots of cool gifts (think plenty of pink and neon!). And it’s the start of the Holiday Tea menu, so get excited. Sigh, if only to be in New York for the holidays…next year, next year!
