I can’t remember if I told you the disaster story of little C.’s first haircut last month? Well, I won’t go into it…just can’t rehash the scene (it wasn’t the cut, just the experience). But, I will tell you that once we got home and he started playing with his toys (for which he realllllly missed), I snapped an amazing photo of him. You know it’s my policy to never show little C. on here (so it pains me I can’t show you my awesome pic), but I will tell you what happened after that. I was contacted by a company called Easy Canvas Prints about creating a canvas for me in exchange for a review. So, I thought what a PERFECT opportunity for me to blow up that photo of little C. and make it an amazing canvas, a piece of art.
So, I did. I made it a vertical 20×16 canvas and it is now (ok, about to be…I’m slow) hanging in my hallway. It’s so terribly cute and wonderful that I’ve now decided to make this a yearly thing. I’ll take a photo of little C. every year – until my hallway is full – and make it into a canvas. The process was so simple, you would hardly believe it. (It’s a four-step process, c’mon.) A few clicks on sizing, framing, etc. and you’re finished. (oh, and they even did minor retouching (which is a small fee) for me! can you say “baby drool”…) It only took a week or so to receive it, too. It really took all of the pain of trying to go into a store and pick out something (er, and speak to someone…). Love. this. site. I can’t say enough good things about it, really. Now, it’s up to you to try it yourself.
P.S. I have a new niece, and I wanna shout it from the rooftops!!!! baby M. was born this past weekend and she is a complete black-haired, brown-eyed doll. She already loves her aunt, and, don’t worry, she’ll be in some great shoes in no time. That may or may not have been her “welcome” gift. 😉
And updates on little C.? He can “scribble” with his crayons (red is his fav), climb up and down stairs (one time, not so successfully…ouch) and eat turkey like nobody’s business (with a fork!). Not much interest yet in baby M., but he’ll come around. 😉

Great picture! I'm going to pipe in with some advice since I can't see the words “disaster” and “first haircut” together without chiming in. Distraction is so important with kid's haircuts. At my salons, we use DVDs, toys, video games, lollipops and so forth to keep kids distracted, happy and still. Bringing a favorite toy goes a long way. Also, don't schedule the appointment near meal time or nap time because they may be cranky. And bring a spare shirt in case he refuses to wear the cape.
Cozy – Thanks for the advice…you are correct on all accounts, haha. We could've used a spare shirt, that's for sure. 😉 And NO one was really helping me distract…sob.
