Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week F/W 2011: Nicole Miller
By Tiffany Reo, Guest Blogger and Fashion Week Correspondent
Shapes a protractor couldn’t get a handle on were the core of Nicole Miller‘s stellar collection. Heavy shades of blue laced with black set the tone. Sleek silhouettes the designer is known for filled the runway with unexpected details like a jagged neckline and asymmetrical sleeves. The impression was that of a sci-fi thriller – Gattaca, to be exact. Pieces definitely had that futuristic quality to them such as body-con dresses with exaggerated shoulders. Amongst pieces that were suited for the next generation of dressing were classic revisited, voluminous black trousers. My favorites were the metallic pieces shown towards the end. Their foil-like exterior is the evolution of metallic. Presented in such an intense and androgynous fashion, this collection is not only on track for fall, it’s another success for Nicole Miller’s ready-to-wear line.
Editor’s Note: We fell in absolute l-o-v-e with all of the cobalt blue. I’ve heard it can be hard to wear, but not for us redheads, right? I have a feeling this color will be filling my closet come fall.
What a beautiful fur vest…swoon.
Hearting the collar on this coat – practical and chic, no?
A structured blazer with glitz – how genius!
The dazzling finale – loving that drapey cape.
We spotted Stefano Tonchi (lower right), editor of W. Wonder what he was thinking??
