Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week F/W 2011: Rebecca Minkoff
By Tiffany Reo, Guest Blogger and Fashion Week Correspondent
You know when you are getting ready and you wish you had pieces that made you look instantly cool with little effort? The girl who walks in the room and demands attention without demanding attention…that is the Rebecca Minkoff girl. She is the one you want to be friends with because she has a laid-back attitude with a keen eye for style and maybe if you’re close enough, she’ll let you borrow those sick skinny pants that have the snakeskin knee patches.
A very “chill” collection of just over 30 looks glided down the runway to the live sound of “The Ghost of Saber Tooth Tiger” (aka Sean Lennon and Charlotte Muhl Kemp). It’s pretty awesome how designers are giving you a twofer when you attend shows nowadays – you get to see stylish art pass you by, all to the soundtrack of an artist who channels their brand. What was even better is how spot-on Minkoff’s collection was this season. Concert or not, I wanted everything that she was showing. I mean everything. Talk about a powerhouse of wearable style – from outerwear to knits, her signature handbags and the swoon-worthy shoe collection. If I had to be head-to-toe one designer for Fall 2011 – my first choice? Rebecca Minkoff. There was a little bit of everything, feminine prints, textures from fur and skins – all while being a bit drapey and giving off that aura of, “Oh this? I just threw on whatever…” Don’t we all need that look of stylish ease in our wardrobe? Yes, yes, we do.
P.S. Read the next post for deets on the afterparty!
The designer herself looking so chic (and happy her show is finally over?)!
Actress Michelle Trachtenberg sat front row (and we love her chain necklace!).
Sean Lennon gave an amazing performance with Charlotte Muhl Kemp.
