Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week S/S 2011: Timo Weiland
Ok, call me a ditz, but I intentionally got up early enough to visit this presentation. I even had backstage credentials to cover beauty. Sigh…I was literally on my way over to Lincoln Center and thought I was late, so didn’t go. Later, I realized I was not late at all, but just utterly confused on my schedule. Oh, Timo, forgive my Fashion Week brain, will you?
Designers Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein brought their quirkiness to the stage as they presented the theme, A Wharf on the Baltic. Nearly all colors of the rainbow and hemlines to make you blush, the duo proved fashion is being true to yourself. The tie-front blouses are so cool, and the blazer-skirt combos are pulled together chic.
Davines sponsored the presentation and ION Studio owner (ya know, where I went to get my hair cut!) Leonardo Manetti (below) created soft waves that I wish I could create myself. Gosh.
How to get the look:
*Create a strong side part that starts mid-brow (whichever side looks best) and goes straight back
*Clip the parted section
*Thoroughly spray Davines Texturizer throughout the hair. This lightweight formula adds lift at the roots and enhances the texture when activated with heat
*With a blowdryer, rough dry the hair to make sure all of the product is dry
*Lightly spray hair with Davines Glam Power Spray – a quick drying spray that provides a strong, long-lasting hold without leaving hair stiff
*With a 1.25″ curling iron, take big sections and curl locks staying off the roots
*Work your way around the head, curling large sections and pinning them in place to set
*Once cool, remove pins and spray with Glam Power Spray
*Gently brush out the curls
*Back-comb the back sections to add volume
I did get a chance to make it to the afterparty (don’t judge) at the private luxury property overlooking the Highline, The Ohm. Sponsored by Samurai Love Sake (yep, just realizing that’s what that was) and Fashionista.com, it was a pretty chilly night so we stayed inside and listened to The Rassle play. And apparently baseball player Darryl Strawberry was there (pictured below with Timo himself).
