Christian Siriano took to the tents at Lincoln Center today to show his S/S 2011 collection full of African, Asian and Indian influences, and a huge thank you to correspondent Jason for his amazing coverage. The video above is the finale of the girls on the runway – what gorgeous gowns, as always! I’m sure we’ll see plenty of these on the red carpet. Anyway, here’s what Jason had to say about today’s show – enjoy!
P.S. Aveda did a “textured bun” for the hair this season – what do you think? Yay or nay?

Christian Siriano led the pack storming out of the gate on the first day of Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week filling the stage with a line veering between wearability and outrageousness to the delight of his adoring fan base. With half of the onlookers serving as card-carrying members of the Christianista establishment and the other half not all the way ready to accept Fashion Week’s young gun, Siriano ignored the divided crowd and did his best to delight. The Project Runway alum brought a distinguished approach to his day wear and a sleek and sophisticated look to break out after the sun sets. His use of spirited patterns jumped off the runway and he wrapped up the line with several over-the-top gowns so unfunctional you couldn’t get dressed until you arrived at your gala.
“The collection is about feeling glamorous in what you wear, whether it’s simple or lavish, and mixing both of those styles together.” — Christian Siriano
Front-row attendees included boyfriend musician Brad Walsh, actresses Maggie Grace and Katrina Bowden and actor Alan Cumming. Afterwards, Alan Cumming congratulated Siriano on his fine kickoff to Fashion Week.
