A Quick Chat with Stacey Bendet of Alice + Olivia

All kinds of celebs are huge fans of fashion darling Stacey Bendet‘s super-stylish line, Alice + Olivia. We’re talking Julia Stiles, Brittany Snow, Hayden Panettiere, Kate Hudson, the Kardashian sisters, the Hilton sisters..and the list goes on and on. And after taking a peek at Stacey’s fall collection in her store presentation across from Bryant Park last month, I can see why. The designs are so modern-day and “with-it,” they make you feel like the coolest girl at the party. Really.

So, what does a cool girl like herself love with all her heart? “Long, slinky black matte jersey dresses, funky hair clips and Galliano shoes.” (and she adds, “OMG, heels!”)

You just had a baby four months ago, so what are you gonna wear? “I don’t think my style has changed much since Eloise, except there are certain pieces I wore to death while pregnant and now cannot bear the site of!!”

The Alice + Olivia Web site is a work in progress at the moment, so how’s it going? “I’m working with the most amazing designer on my site – [with a] company called Designed Memory. We are building the content site [now] and then will add e-commerce later this year.”

Let’s talk spring – since it’s in a week! “The spring collection has a bohemian rock theme to it, and I love our colorful leather jackets. They can be worn over pretty girly dresses or back to jeans, very versatile!” (check out Shenae Grimes from 90210 rocking one of the designs here)

And your kids line? “We started our kids line last year, but it’s growing and I have definitely been inspired with the birth of Eloise! But no nepotism, Eloise will be exposed to fashion and art and film. But, I want her to grow up earning things and learning things just like every other little girl!” Right on, Stacey! A girl we could totally hang out with at the corner bar (or perhaps, shopping mall?).
