Vivienne Tam Fall 09 Collection
First of all, I am completely crushed I couldn’t make it to the Vivienne Tam presentation at her showroom on Mercer St. Wednesday night. My schedule got completely backed up and there was no way possible I was going to everything I had lined up (not to mention, this was the day a rainstorm decided to descend upon the city!). Now that Fashion Week’s over, I have a terrible cough and chest congestion. Cold air, city pollution? Running around like a mad woman for a week straight? Probably! Anyway, the nice girls at Attention PR were sweet enough to send over the fall lookbook from the collection, and I like what I see! More and more designers brought out the jewel tones, and Vivienne’s collection was no different. I can’t get enough of that deep purple! It looks so chic paired with reds and pinks, too.
The whole concept was based on “nothingness,” a space in which nothing can happen, and the Chinese character “wu” (which means “nothingness”) was actually featured in several of the pieces. My fav of all is the black dress featured above – such a clean silhouette that’s so slimming and chic. All of the varying textures in the collection make it interesting and satisfy every fashionista’s craving for just plain, great fashion.
P.S. Vivienne was the first presentation to really embrace us bloggers, and that’s one reason I was bummed to miss! With the debut of her collaboration with HP, she featured a live blogging station with the new TouchSmarts. What a genius way of integrating online media into Fashion Week. I applaud her efforts for recognizing us bloggers – not to mention her design for HP is so sexy! I am so wanting one now (they’re just $699!).
