Milk & Honey Shoes Debuts Breast Cancer Awareness Heel
Pink heels. My heart be still. For you and you alone, I build my outfit each week. You sit on my shelf and I can hardly speak. Ok, I’m so silly, right? Haha. But, seriously. These heels. My heart just can’t be still. I just recently discovered Milk & Honey Shoes after attending the Lucky FABB Conference and I’m majorly impressed. I don’t think there’s a shoe on that site I wouldn’t wear on my feet. What’s so cool about M&H, as I’ll call it, is you can design your own shoes (you don’t have to, but you can!). It’s such a cool feature and makes it fun! Wanna knock-out heel in a super-bright hue, but not all about a super-high heel? No problem, because you can pick your height, color, fabric and adornments. Major, right?
So, this little number is the Breast Cancer Awareness pump ($285), designed by MarieClaire.com’s site director, Abby Gardner. Tons of kudos to her for using all of my fav shoe elements: cap toe, suede, t-strap, pink. Ok, actually I don’t own a pair of pink shoes (can you believe it? I used to, but they were worn SO much they went by the wayside…), so I’m thinking my closet needs a little color with the addition of these.
“We knew we wanted to do something meaningful for Breast Cancer Awareness Month other than wearing our pink ribbons. Our 37-year-old cousin Sara was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in April 2010; she was six months pregnant and had a two year old running around. That shook our foundation to its core.” — Dorian Howard, co-founder of Milk & Honey Shoes
Now, for the extra cool points. 100 percent of profits will go to the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to young women with breast cancer. Their assistance helps mothers and families as they struggle to coordinate the daily challenges of their treatment and their “real lives.” You can learn more about the foundation at www.KarenDoveCabralFoundation.org.
I’m passionate about this shoe. I’m passionate about this cause. Let’s do this, girls! xo
