How I Wore My Heels: Happy Birthday to Moi!

Y’all, it’s my birthday!!! Squeal! I’m finally in my 30s (shhhhh…quiet if you know my age!). So typical me has this idea of gold “YAY” balloons for my birthday post. Perfect! Two things that happened. First, I blew all three letters up with my hot air (who me?) and after I finished realized they were still lying on the floor and helium would be necessary for them to float. Doh. I was finally able to get helium and began my photoshoot when WHOOSH, up, up and away went the second “Y” and hence in today’s post we see “YA” and not “YAY” – and a tangled up mess of string.
I just had to laugh.
In some ways this represents my life over the past year. It hasn’t been easy. In fact it’s been one thing after the other. God has his plan for me and I have no idea what it is at this point, but I’m doing a lot of trusting, friends. I’m a Virgo, so when things don’t go exactly as planned, I freak out just a little. (ok, kinda a lot…insert squeaky voice…) Lately I’ve learned to lighten up a bit and to just put my trust and faith in God. Because honestly? There’s not a heck of a lot I can do. It’s in his hands…and when something goes wrong? You kinda just have to laugh about it sometimes. Ya know?
I’ve also learned that balloons flying into the air…coffee spilled on my pants…water spilled on the floor…chipped nail polish…are not major issues. Ok? I think we can find a way to get through these things. It’s all about perspective. And I think if there’s anything I’ve been taught since my mom got sick and my dad passed away and through all of the trials of this year, it’s these things (even if it’s so hard to actually DO them!):
1. Keep the right perspective.
2. Think positive.
3. Laugh.
4. Pray.
5. Own it.
This year is going to be the best year of my life. Mark my words. Good people do get rewarded in the end. Let’s do this.
