Whiny Wednesday: Stylist Leslie Fremar’s Career, Kids and Closet
She’s one of fashion’s hottest celebrity stylists. Leslie Fremar has created some iconic looks in her career, and she’s not stopping anytime soon. (Obvi when you include both Vogue and Prada in your resume, you just can’t shake the chicness.) I was thrilled this week (ok, beyond thrilled) to catch up with Leslie and ask her all about her career (she styles Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon and Julianne Moore), her kids (she has two little guys!) and her closet. Ready, set, go…
I Heart Heels: I think nearly everyone loved the look you put together for Charlize Theron at the Oscars. What was the process like in choosing this entire look?
Leslie Fremar: We worked w/ the design team at Dior and came up with a concept and color, then they submitted a sketch for Charlize’s approval. Once the sketch was approved we had the dress made and Dior had two different top options made for the dress. In the last minute, we chose the corset top.
IHH: Let’s talk about work/life balance. With two little ones, I need to know how you get it all done!
LF: I have a lot of meetings at home and I have a very supportive husband. I have easy kids, so combined, it works.
IHH: I’ve seen photos of your kitchen’s chalkboard wall – genius! Are there any other really cool kid’s features you love in your loft? How much does your family use that chalkboard wall?
LF: We use the chalkboard wall a lot! We write messages to each other on it and we use it as a learning tool. We have rocking horses, fire trucks that you can drive, and we have an official basketball net.
IHH: You are a stylist, after all. How do you like to dress your kids?
LF: My older son just wants to wear exactly what his dad wears; he’s very opinionated. But my baby, I get to dress however I want, and he wears a lot of Stella McCartney Kids.
IHH: You’ve done so much outstanding work…how do you learn to keep moving forward and not focus on what’s been done in the past?
LF: I try to evolve as best as I can, but there are still things that I can work on, like social media. I’m not up on the times of every aspect of my life.
IHH: Favorite pair of shoes in your closet?
LF: My Celine flat sandals.
