Jason Wu for Target (What I Bought!)
So unless you’ve been occupying a very, small (and unfashionable) cave the last few months, you know Jason Wu for Target launched yesterday. Squeal, squeal and squeal. When the collab was first announced I wasn’t all that excited (I mean, no offense, but I wasn’t even sent a lookbook? sigh…). But, you know how it goes. I took to the hype, viewed a few photos here and there and then the night before decided I would set my alarm (yes, only for fashion, folks!) and find something for myself. And voilà!
The funny thing is…my fav outfit is the pink directly above and below. I didn’t purchase it until I went back a second time to buy something completely different for which I changed my mind. (I know, whew…I’m complicated when I shop.) Then, some fashion fairy-godmother decided to place the pink skirt on the “already tried on” rack by the dressing room…in my size. I shudder that someone didn’t want this skirt…I. adore. it. The darts at the waist are all that when it comes to flattering. (and between you and me, I can’t say that much about the pleated versions from the same line…) I tried the skirt on with one of the sheer tops, but no can do for this girl (then, I would have to figure out what to wear under it).
So, I stumbled upon this super-soft jersey top that ties in front, which I love. And then I added a black blazer I already owned at home with a pair of amazing No Nonsense (control-top…shhhh…and just $4.99) herringbone tights and my fav pair of Schutz slingbacks (and yes, they are peep-toes and you can wear them with tights!). Oh, and the shirt/skirt combo was less than $60…not bad, right?
The first frock I fell in love with at 8 a.m. in the morning (did that really happen??) was this Audrey-Hepburn-eque belted number. with a peekaboo sequin hem. and it flares. This dress is so amazingly flattering, I can’t imagine there being a body type it wouldn’t look good on, no? It nips at the waist in just the right spot and the length is perfect (for heels, of course). It sorta makes me feel like a little ballerina princess (and doesn’t my stance look en pointe?!). Everyone was going gaga over the white version, but if you ask me, black is just the ticket. What a great spin on the LBD (for $60). (psst…same No Nonsense tights…heels are suede peep-toes by Kate Spade)
Let me know if you’ve bought anything from the Jason Wu/Target collab…would love to know! xoxo
