Hellooooo, chicsters! I have some important news to share with you today in lieu of our regularly-scheduled Whiny Wednesday, so listen up! In honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Hat Attack has teamed up with 31 of their favorite online style bloggers, for the 31 days of May, to help raise awareness and funds towards the fight against skin cancer. Hat Attack will donate 20 percent of all proceeds to the Skin Cancer Foundation on all chosen styles showing how chic and stylish wearing a hat can be to promote safe skin care habits this summer.
So here is yours truly on vacay last month at the beach. For those of you with kids, this hat has become my lovey. Haha. I’ve seriously become attached to this hat, and have been wearing it like crazy. And it did come in very handy to block those rays on the beach (in addition to my SPF, natch). I was provided the Julia ($82), made of 100-percent raffia with a cute little bow on the side. It’s like a straw version of the fedora, and it’s so easy to wear with most any spring/summer outfit, or even with your swimsuit!
On a more serious note, I personally (being of very fair skin…red hair, hello!) have already experienced an isolated benign instance of skin cancer. Yep. Although everything was fine and removed, it certainly was scary. And it’s made me much more aware of protecting my skin however and whenever I can (spray tans alllll the way). Wearing a (chic!) hat is just one way you can protect your skin all year long.
