Designer to Watch: Malini Murjani

Introducing a handbag line I completely heart – Malini Murjani. Coming to an Intermix store near you in just a couple of weeks – squeal! Do you dig it?


While I picked the structured Beth as my fav style (shown here – $395) while perusing through the Spring/Summer 2010 lookbook, I couldn’t possibly decide between the gunmetal black or the antique gold/brown. So…I’m showing you both! Thoughts?


Malini hails from India, but now calls NY her home. And her collection, started in 2000, derives from her many travels. You’ll notice exotic skins, lots of jewels and exotic stones. No doubt, these handbags are distinct and not to be forgotten. I love the Beth because of the deep contrast of the mesh metal with the luxurious leather as well as the chic chain strap (it’s removable!). I want one of these bags right now! I would wear it with jeans or a cocktail dress because that’s what a good bag should be – versatile.


The S/S ’10 collection in particular was inspired by the beaches of Spain (take me away!) and evokes the feeling of a hot summer morning. And a stylish, confident world-traveling chicette. Sound like a label you’re willing to live under? Yep, me too.
