Plain White Jeans
White jeans. I must admit I was rather reluctant when I heard they were were in style this season. After all, I am by no means a size 2 body type who can wear the so-called “boy fit”. Me? I’m more of your average size 6, “bootcut” style whose got a little junk in her trunk. I am no Kate Beckinsale (pictured above), but who is, right? For years, I have debated the white pant, let alone white jean, phenomenon and finally resided to forget about them after tearfully checking them off my list. White makes you look bigger and girls with real figures can never pull them off. Gosh, I was so wrong!
After reading up on the best style to fit my body and shopping around for something that suited my personal style, I found the perfect pair this weekend and I have already worn them to a party. Some of the comments I got: “I love your white jeans,” “Hey, pretty girl!” and “You look soooo cute!” See, the tricks to wearing white jeans are: 1) don’t just buy white, buy white with a great fit. You want something that doesn’t fit too snug since white does still reflect light more than your average blue jean. Something with stretch is ideal. 2) pair them with a flowy top to balance the tighter fit of the jeans and 3) wear them with confidence- if you feel good in what you’re wearing, other people will feel good about it too!
P.S. I bought Seven for All Mankind’s “Ginger” style pictured below (nordstrom.com) because I like the trouser style, but True Religion also carries a great skinny style more suited for flats.
