An At-Home Facial: ExfoliKate
Exfoliation. Who knew it was so key? I used to always wash my face with basic Purpose soap and be done with it. Since I’ve had baby C., I’ve realized the uber-importance of exfoliation. (I actually exfoliated my whole body before my last spray tan and it literally lasted like 10 days – so much longer!) Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate is a celeb cult fav. Anyone I’ve ever interviewed has listed this as their beauty must-have, stranded-on-a-desert-island-type-of-product. The normal size is $85, but you can get a little $19 sampler size at Sephora now – swoon.
This product – like any exfoliator – has tiny micro-beads (actual fruit enzymes) that do the dirty work to scrub off the bacteria and present to you – voila! – smoother, more radiant skin (it even fights acne!). Note: You only need to use this once or twice a week – it’s not a daily routine. And you should wait 30 seconds or so before you wash it off. It’s literally like Kate giving you a facial (for, ahem, much cheaper). You can expect a little redness, but if it’s really red, that means your skin is irritated and you shouldn’t keep using it.
P.S. I am not a fan of the scent of this product – guess it’s all of the different flowers? Oof – just a warning to those with sensitive noses.
